This is an update from previous post, i suggest you to READ previous post before you read this post

some of my friend got some trouble for installing this game and it always ende up eturned to desktop when the game launched. But don’t worry looks like if already found fix for it. I hope this can help you too (this is from trial and error 6 attempt):

spec WIN XP SP 3 // CORE 2 DUO 2,4Ghz // 2Gb RAM // ATI 3870X2 OC

1.The first problem is the game crash into desktop  when the first intro movie began. Then i updated my patch with skidrow patch and it worked out but crash again in the loading before the game start.

2.Just like other forum and my previous post said, i’ve installed all the necessary program: directx, physisx, visual C++), and then i’m reinstall this from the beginning without removing the first installation, just install again in the same directory and folder.

3.The file size still the same 6,9 GB—> i know this wouldn’t work.
4.Restart (this is accidentally, because my house got a power cut), and when the power is back, i check again my reinstalled file, still 6,9 Gb. Without internet connection i’m trying to launch the game. And then ENG ING ENG the game run smoothly without crash and another problem.
and i check again the file size, it become 7,4 Gb. it’s weird right?

So my Conclusion is:

1. install the program like Driver, hysx and etc before installing the game.

2.Make sure your computer system is up to date

3.Install first and, when it crashed, reinstall again (overwrite method)

4.Try launching the game without internet connection

  • DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
  • 1GB RAM
Recommended:

  • Any Quad Core or 3.0+ GHz Dual Core CPU
  • DirectX 10 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 260 and above)
  • 2GB RAM
Optimum:

  • Core i7 CPU
  • NVIDIA DirectX 11 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 480 and 470)
  • As much RAM as possible (8GB+)
  • Fast HDD or SSD
Enabling 3D Vision
Metro 2033 utilizes NVIDIA 3D Vision with compatible cards and hardware. To play in 3D you will require:
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 and above recommended
  • A 120Hz (or above) monitor
  • NVIDIA 3D Vision kit
  • Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

Test right now!! can you run it..

1.CRashes to desktop
Anyway if it crashes there are 2 steps:
Install Latest Graphic Drivers
Install latest Direct X <do it even if u think it’s already updated
2.Can’t launch the game
There are also issues with a missing .dll for some people and an extra file in the game that needs deleting for other. You can try check download in this link http://ineedfile.com/metro-2033-crash-on-startup
3.Fix random crashes,  and freeze at loading screen

Follow this step:

  1. Install DirectX  – Navigate to THQ\Metro 2033\install\DirectX and run DXSETUP.exe
  2. Install Visual C++ Runtime – Navigate to THQ\Metro 2033\install\ and run vcredist_x86_sp1_atl_4053.exe
  3. Install PhysX System Software – Navigate to THQ\Metro 2033\install\ and run PhysX_10.02.22_9.10.0222_SystemSoftware.exe

4.On intro movie, can only hear sound but no video

Try this trick:

  1. If you are running on a dual monitor setup, please unplug the secondary monitor before launching the game.
  2. If you managed to run the game once (and if it fails to load after the first run), delete the user.cfg file located in the game’s installation directory and try running the game.

5. FOV related issues

FOV (Field of Vision),  Make the following adjustments to make it more playable:

  1. Go to the user.cfg file located at X:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033
  2. Edit it with a text editor such as Notepad
  3. Find the value called: sick_fov 45.
  4. Change this value to sick_fov 90.  (including the period at the end)
  5. Save and close the file. Now start the game.

6. x3daudio1_7.dll not found error

Update your directX into the latest version. Try update your graphic card’s driver too.
