Before Reading this post check General FAQ first. You may find solution for your problem. Who knows?

Guys, I have the fix for your BF2 crashing. I had two major issues when I installed the game.

1) One was that it would CRASH right after it loaded the splash screen, and you’re back to the desktop. Cause: BF2 doesn’t like all CDROM/CDRW drives. Especially if you have flashed it to be multiregional. Solution: run a no cd mini-image that imitates your cd copy in a virtual drive.

2) Second problem was that BF2 was only playable for 4 minutes, after which you crash and return back to the desktop or worse, the computer crashes! Cause: This is caused by having an AMD mobo with Dual Channel memory. I don’t know why but I replaced my ATI card with an nVidia 6800GT. Since than I have similar lockups with Counterstrike and FarCry.

Solution: Set your memory to Single Channel.

I’ll tell, I have been readying a ton of forums with no one having a fix other than telling people to reinstall and reformat your HD. That is all [bleep]. If you have the above problems try my trick and I promise you, you’ll be playing all night long just to catch up on all your mistireous crashes you’ve been having for days.

Oh by the way, I have tried all the version of drivers (omega, nvidia 6x, 7x, all of them). Play hard when you get it fixed!

1.Battlefield: Bad Company 2 crashes / crashing to desktop ( CTD )

go to Documents
BFBC2 Folder
find settings,click it
find “dxversion=”
change it to dxversion=9 (or 10)

2.How to force a DirectX version for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC ( BFBC2 )

To force a specific DirectX version, go to your settings.ini in My Documents\BFBC2. Look for “DxVersion=Auto” and change it to the setting you prefer based on the list below.

* DxVersion=auto
* DxVersion=11
* DxVersion=10
* DxVersion=9

If for some reason a higher version of DirectX fails, it will automatically try the next version. IE: If you set it for DxVersion=11, it will try version 11, then 10, and finally 9.

3. Encounter slow framerate, bad / low performance when playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC ( BFBC2 )

Install the latest nvidia or ati video card driver and change the DirectX version to 9

4.Encounter graphics glitch / error when playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC ( BFBC2 )

Turn off bloom

5. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 won’t install on Windows 7 x64 using EA Download Manager

Disable your virus scanner and re-download Battlefield: Bad Company 2

I noticed that some people still have trouble even those who already upgraded their graphic card driver. i think here will be a hotfix for this issue, i already try bad company with ATI HD3200 and it still can run fine with low resolution.

Do some experiment, if you have the saboteur benchmark, or installer, you can try installing saboteur. that game have so many record about, crashing and black screen. If you can play that game, there will be no problem for this game.

Here’s another trick!!

The only thing I did to my computer is changed from an CRT monitor to an LCD monitor. Once I did that the game would crash to desktop right after loading.

The refresh rate in the game was set at 75 Hz @ 1024×768. I changed this by locating all the video.con files and changing the setting

from this – VideoSettings.setResolution 1024×768@85Hz
to this – VideoSettings.setResolution 1024×768@60Hz

^— Change that to what ever will work with your monitor.

These files are located in C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USERNAME HERE)\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default
