System Requirements

  • OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
  • Processor: - Intel Pentium D 3.0Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2
  • Memory: 1GB (2GB for Windows Vista)
  • Graphics: ATI Radeon X1500 or NVIDIA GeForce 6800
  • DirectX®: 9 and 11
  • Hard Drive: 10GB
  • Controller Support: XBox 360 controller support

Problem 1: Dirt 2 crashes at launch
Apparently, this is a problem caused by an incorrect installation of Games For Windows Live. According to the game’s community manager the fix here is quite simple:

1. Restart your computer.
2. Download and install again Games for Windows Live (click here to get it)
3. Restart the computer again and fire up the game!

Problem 2: Dirt 2 crashes or freezes when the AMD logo appears
There is no official confirmation of a fix for this problem, but you could try to force the game to run in DirectX 9 mode. In order to do so, you will have to:

Open with a text editor the file located at:
Documents/My Games/Dirt2/hardwaresettings/hardware_settings_config.xml

Find line and change it to

Find <directx forcedx9=”false” /> and change to <directx forcedx9=”true” />

Game will now run flawlessly

Saving the Game

Follow the steps below if you need to create offline profile in Collin McRae: Dirt 2:

1. Launch the game. Open the Windows Live menu.
2. If you are already logged onto a profile (local or online), sign out (Create profile button will only become visible when you aren’t logged into anything)
3. Click on ‘Create new profile’ button.
4. In the dialog box that pops up DO NOT hit continue. Hitting continue will take you to a registration page for an ONLINE profile – that’s not what we want.
5. Once in the ‘Create Gamer Profile’ window, scroll down so that you can see the bottom paragraph.
6. Look for the hyperlinked ‘created a local profile’ link in last paragraph. Clicking this will allow you to create a new offline profile.

Feel free to ask if you have any question..

I have been trying to get to change my Fov, but i cant.

Everywhere i look there is either comments about changing fov in windows XP, or a steam installed copy. And i have neither of these.

I dont have a steam copy, and i dont have windows XP, i have windows 7 so i dont have a /applicationdata/ folder.

And i can find my metro2033 folder in my user folder but in there there are only save files, no user.cfg.

The only user.cfg i can find is the one in the original metro2033 folder and when i change the fov there nothing happens.
